20160707: Gen 7:7 Life size Noah's Ark Opening in Williamstown, Kentucky, USA

Gen 7:7 "And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him into the ark, because of the waters of the flood"
I was reading the news and came across this coming opening of the life size Noah's Ark scheduled to open next week 7/7/2016. The date chosen from Gen 7:7 above.

I was excited of course. As this project which was birthed way back in 2010 is finally coming to pass.  Not that smooth sailing but here it is. Watch the project  video in the link below.

"The Cross is the greatest reminder for us of the salvation we can have in Jesus Christ. The Creation Museum was built as a reminder that we can trust the authority of God’s Word in every area. Other than the Cross, the Ark of Noah is one of the greatest reminders we have of salvation. The Ark Encounter project was born out of a desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to millions of people across America and the world. This project has been years in the making. See how the Lord has worked mightily over the years to make this project a reality" Arkencounter

My Reflections

1. ARK-spiration of HIS Story - History : Past
Noah's Ark continues to capture the interest, inspiration & inquisitions of many people from all over the world.   The Creation theory vs Evolutionist. The dating of the earth be it in billions years or just in thousands. The Ark and the Flood is one of the few historical events that even the Chinese characters breathed the words alive. And Chinese history dates back 5000 years ago.  The calligraphic Chinese characters in fact had this part of history imprinted as a reminder of what had happened to mankind.

Ark  :  Depicting the meaning of the 8 mouths (八 口)/ persons in the boat or ark.
Flood : : Water & All (共) - the total destruction by flood

2. ARK-encounters 21 years ago : Then

Back 21 years ago in 1995/6, one of my brothers decided to start a Karaoke resting place for Christians to gather in the most unlikely place in Bugis!(previously well known for the transvestites ) And he decided to call the place Noah's Ark - birthed due to a vision he captured while walking down Orchard Road.  It was kind of a non-profit set up and with another brother roped in to helm the place on full time basis, the rest of us were strictly volunteers.  We came after work and help to man the place and be the disc jockeys, waitress and cleaners - all in one! Tiring but we had great memories.

One interesting encounter recorded then was the a man who was invited to the Ark by some friends before the official opening.  He was a non-believer in the Christian faith but a Buddhist? And he claimed he saw clouds in the room! Wow!  Perhaps that gave the added assurance to my brother that the Lord was in charge.

(Photo: Noah's Ark at Bugis Street, 1995/6- Frontage, surrounding, top view and the lounge)
Well, some years later, owning to rental expiry of the place, the "ark" was relocated to World Trade Centre in Harbourfront but subsequently sank and disappeared.

Where is the original Noah's Ark today? Found on Mt Ararat? Many people are chasing to find it.  Till now, some satellite photos claimed the sighting.   Some explorers too.

3. Ark-existing : Today, Present
Come 7/7/2016, fast forward 20 years on, a new life size Noah's Ark is scheduled to open in USA! This has been 3 cycles of 7 since the red dot "Noah's Ark" was established in Bugis.

Would this replica be a sign of a second chance from the Lord in our generation (post war baby boomers)  that has seen so many pervasions and declining morality on our land just as in Noah's time?

The essence of TIME. Ages

Before the Flood, Adam lived 930 years . During Noah's time, God already declared in Gen 6:3 that man's days shall be 120 years. "And the LORD said' My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh; yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years" Now, our life span is best 70 years, else 80 as penned by Moses in Psalm 90.  Beautiful psalm.

A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.

90 Lord, you have been our dwelling place[a]
    in all generations.
Before the mountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
You return man to dust
and say, “Return, O children of man!”[b]
For a thousand years in your sight
are but as yesterday when it is past,
or as a watch in the night.
You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream,
like grass that is renewed in the morning:
in the morning it flourishes and is renewed;
in the evening it fades and withers.
For we are brought to an end by your anger;
by your wrath we are dismayed.
You have set our iniquities before you,
our secret sins in the light of your presence.
For all our days pass away under your wrath;
we bring our years to an end like a sigh.
10 The years of our life are seventy,    or even by reason of strength eighty;
yet their span[c] is but toil and trouble;
they are soon gone, and we fly away.
11 Who considers the power of your anger,
and your wrath according to the fear of you?
12 So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom.
*********************************************************************
So if the average person dies at 70 years old
If you are          You have
20 years old      2,500 weekends left
30 years old      2,000 weekends left
40 years old      1,500 weekends left
50 years old      1,000 weekends left
60 years old         500 weekends left

OOPs! How many weekends have you got now? LOL

********************************************************************

Final thots on this Ark to be opened soon...

  • How much did it cost Noah to build his ark back then before the world was destroyed?  Today, the cost of this life size one in Kentucky is about S$137mio!
  • How did Noah manage to build the ark in around 70 years when this USA one took about 3 years?
As curious as I may be, whatever it is, I remember Noah & the Ark. Noah found favour in the eyes of the LORD.
I am thankful for the Noahic Covenant of the continued existence of where I am today, life existence under the promise by the Lord he would never send another flood.  The rainbow was His sign of such a covenant.  When Noah was 500 years old, he beget Shem, Ham and Japaheth who were among the 8 who entered into the ark with their wives.  People scorned and mocked at them during that time of merry making.  But because they heed the Lord's call to build the ark.  They were saved when the flood came. The ark was the salvation boat. And Noah died 350 years later after the flood at the age of 950.

But our life span today has diminished to only 120 years of Moses.  In reality , most of us - 70, 80.  God willing , perhaps to a 100.

When the Lord appears again a second time on earth, will He find us faithful, obedient with unwavering allegiance to Him and Him alone if we still find the breath on earth? Yes, apart from the cross, may this rebuilding of the physical Noah's Ark be the reminder of salvation. Let those who have the ears, let them hear.  Let those with eyes , let them perceived.

Come - Let us enter the Ark of rest.  Come , to the one and only greatest Creator - the giver of Life.  Where do we come from? The answer herein lies in the first verse of the greatest book on earth , the bible which says "In the beginning...." Amen!

20160606-Plane & Drones: Defying gravity! Flight Simulator Experience!

6th June 2016 - In a 737 flight simulator cockpit for first flight experience!

It was surreal.  Been dying to fly a plane since secondary school days. Been wanting to enter into the cockpit of a boeing plane to have a sit.

All came true on 6/6/16!
Things that defy gravity often intrigued me.

2 Kings 6 about the story of the floating axhead was one of stories that often made me reflect on what seems impossible to man is impossible to God. That unusual story that was embedded among Elisha and his company of prophets of how Elisha threw his stick into the water and caused the borrowed iron axhead to float often awed me.  Wont't you be?

Some Fleeting Thots!

1. Man can "fly"!

For now, yes, with the help of machines, though not literally like a bird with wings.  The first men that flew were the famous Wright brothers in 1903. That was the beginning of the aviation breakthroughs in the designs of the planes. What was once impossible for man to travel from the east of the globe to the west is now a reality. Is 40:13 says that those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles!

2. Man walk by faith and not by sight?

While in the cockpit, the captain's job was never easy.  There was so many buttons to press, the navigation panels to observe, the throttle to manoevre, the footstools to step on!

We fly by instruments.  We relied heavily on that in the cockpit.
We did not fly by sight. However, on approach landing, one needs to really look out for the 4 blinking red and yellow lights as a guide to a good leading in.

My experience made me realised why we need to pay captain well! They are the ones who can safely fly us in and out to the country! Like the A380, a big fat plane with hundreds of passengers' lives at stake.

As a passenger, I cannot fly this machine.  I can only trust in my captain to do that job! Like a child, my faith hinges on the captain of my soul - Jesus.  I walk by faith , trusting in Him who knows what is best for me, and not by sight or feelings.

Like Elisha who threw the stick into the water and then the axhead floated.  Like a replacement . Jesus died on the cross so that we , who choose to believe in Him - the stubborn axheads can rise again. I trusted the captain to fly the plane to take me to the destination.  How difficult now to trust a more superior captain of my soul? Fear? Do you know where you are heading?

3. Hole in the pilot's seat!

Used to sing the doughnut song " Life without Jesus is like a donut because there is a hole in my heart" During this inflight I found there was a big hole in my seat!  It is there so that the captain can used the throttle to move up and down the plane on flight.  He is the one who can steer our lives and fill that gap where we sit.  I was a novice trying out for the first time.  So in fact my Instruction Lim was the one who was assisting me in the control when I 'lost control' of the plane. He moved his throttle and my throttle moved with his!

Though there was aircon in the cockpit, but it was no easy task learning to 'fly a plane" . I perspired.  So in my last few minutes in the cockpit, I was more than happy that Lim flew the plane while I relaxed to look on the outside and enjoy the view and flight back to Changi airport! Because it is simply too pressurizing for me! LOL.  So stressful. Thank God for Jesus being the Captain of my Life! Let Him be stressed and I just breeze along!

4. The 4 Spokes of lift and life

Aerodynamics, the study of flight, is founded on four basic forces — lift, weight, thrust and drag. The interaction of these forces explains the movement of objects as they soar through the sky. What seems like magic — a several ton object flying, like an airplane flying through the sky! — is actually based on the laws of physics and these four forces.

The first force, lift, pushes up on things that fly — airplanes, birds, helicopters and rockets. The shape of the wings on an airplane and the whirling blades of a helicopter create lift as they move through the air.

The second force is weight — the force of two masses being attracted to each other. Weight is the force that pulls us towards the center of the earth, and why things fall down.

The third force is thrust. Thrust is created by the jet engines or propellers of an airplane. Birds create thrust (and lift!) with their wings. Thrust pushes things that are flying

The fourth force is drag. Drag pushes against things moving through the air. It is caused by air particles bumping into the object. An object that is going faster bumps into more air particles, and so experiences more drag. Similarly, an object with a large surface area bumps into more particles, and experiences more drag.

When the forces are  balanced, flying objects speed up, slow down or change direction. This is called acceleration. For example, when the thrust force is bigger than the drag force, an airplane speeds up. When the lift force is bigger than the weight force, the airplane goes up faster.

When forces are balanced, objects do not accelerate. An airplane that is flying in a straight line at a certain speed has balanced forces. An airplane can even be going up or down and have balanced forces. As long as the airplane is not turning, speeding up or slowing down (in any direction, even up and down!) they are balanced.

I just realised that flight in action is like what I learnt from the Navigators - the 4 Wheel in my early Christian faith.

We really need :
1. The LIFT in PRAYER - 24/7
2. The THRUST to WITNESS - in and out of season
3. The DRAG of each other to FELLOWSHIP - not forgetting the assembly of one another
4. The WEIGHT of His WORD -hidden in our hearts -so that we may not sin against Him

God is Good! All the time!
With Him all things are possible!
An ax-head that defied gravity and floated!
Lazarus who died and resurrected!
Philip who was 'teleported' after witnessing to the Ethiopian eunuch!

And when the day comes for us in time, we won't need the machines to aid us to fly!
Till then, dreams are for those who think they can fly!

20160604 -Gohst Outing @ St John & Lazarus Island : His faithfulness! Thanksgiving!

John 11 : 1 - 43 .."Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus..Martha said to Jesus " But I know that even now God will give you whatever you asked...I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in me will live , even though he dies; and whoever who lives and believes in me will never die.  Do you believe in me?

On 4/6/2016, our Goh family had a memorable boat outing to 2 of the 8 islets that formed Singapore Southern islands.  We chartered a ferry for the 25 of us and went to St John & Lazarus Islands!

It was a trip that began at 9am and ended about 3pm.  How it came about and on hindsight was a remarkable footprints in the sands of time.  Of which these were the 5 main thanksgiving thots on this event!

1. Great COOL Weather!

The morning weather looked bleaked with dark skies and thunderstorms with highest precipitation at 11am on this saturday morning of our outing.  The nite before I asked 2 prayer partners to pray for good weather .  And my nieces too prayed hard.  Rain drops came at about 7:45am and I prayed like crazy!  Decided to proceed with the ferry at 9am plus.  Guess what? We literally experienced the little mist showers of flurries rain but no cats and dogs! There was hardly any sun the whole day! We brought sunblock lotion but never get to used it! It was almost the perfect Coolest weather we had on the island!

What a miracle! At about 9:38am, a friend sent me the text "Never stop believing in hope because miracles happen everyday. Good morning" What a timely photo with that red umbrella! YHWH heard our prayers! He stopped the big rain and gave us awesome weather! PTL!

2. Rare GOH full gathering of 11 siblings in such an outing ever before!

With extended married couples and kids - 25 of us made it for this trip! One of my sisters did not have a passport but it was a trip that was out of Red Dot and yet within her boundaries.  Several had been to Kusu and Sentosa but never been to St John & Lazarus Island.  As for me, I recalled my last trip to St John was 35 years ago when I was in secondary 3! Oh My!

[Birthday cake for Junies made by mummy of the birthday gal Shayne who turned 24 on actual date of 4/6/16!)

And yes, we celebrated 6 birthdays of those born in the month of June! Ages...24, 39, 65, 60,70 & 71! Wow wow! Indeed a rare occasion for such a different experience instead of makan session!

And yes, my beloved John was upgraded to Saint JOHN on his 60th birthday on this island!

p/s: The original date was supposed to be a week earlier on 28/5/15. But a few couldn't make it and so it was postponed to 4th June. Might as well.....

3. Little Sarah's fever and her miracle of making to this island trip!

Poor little grand niece had fever since Tue.  Almost gave up the idea of her recovery for the sat ferry!  But guess what? Fever came down to 37.2 and she was all ready to go on sat morning!
As little Sarah lived up to her name, she was treated to a 'princess' throne on the back of her commando uncle! Flunked by chaperons with brollies! LOL

oh....what fever?! PRINCESS built sand CASTLES with her PRIESTLY cousin Aaron after lunch at the Lazarus beach!

4. The Amazing Impromptu RED TEE that was birthed in 3 days before the trip!

KIDZ
Man Tank Top
Ladies Singlet

The idea of having a group tee was mooted some time back but was shoved as it was a headache to look for tees/sizing and get the printing done.  But it was indeed strange how this tee idea was resurrected just a few days before the actual outing!

Amazing Lord allowed me to sell a used heat press through Carousell .  I had asked my brother to put on sale on his ebay account some years back but the response was bad.  Little did I realise that Carousell had generated so many interested parties.  One chap Jamas decided to come to see the press on tuesday morning. He was in the tee printing small biz.  The rest was history.  It was like a barter trade! Got rid of the heatpress in exchange for 27 red singlets (ladies) , tank tops for men and 3 kids tees! Not enough singlets for men and kids - so the tees range were modified (Though all RED) ! Guess we were credit worthy enough that no deposit was required for this last minute tee printing! So we DID the tee in 3 days! Very efficient considering that I only met Jamas on Tue - a risk too! LOL

And the original Family day design was "REJECTED" by the 2 other "protemp committee MEMBERS" . LOL  Too common lor so they said.  So in the end , my design was chosen instead after burning midnite oil on that wednesday nite :)  GOH. ST John . Lazarus was born! And the customised names were a last min add on on Thu! To prevent "in fighting' of the tees finding their rightful owner after the wash! Ha Ha Ha!

5. A Final Buzz Tale Testimony of HIS Faithfulness and Goodness!

Anyone who is doing logistics co-ordination would know how such a human intricate process would be like! LOL . Especially with my GOHST family with so many diverse characters and personalities! Some simple love to be on foot and bus and MRT. Some cars...for us - car and bikes!

Likewise as we had decided to charter the ferry  (S$500 for us) which could take up to 40 seaters instead of splitting into 3 ferries which could take max of 12 each for 25 of us that day, who wouldn't prefer to have a chartered bus to take all to Marina South Pier?

Pro-temp committee' Geng Chow efficient' KP did try.  She emailed to one on 1/6/2016. But the price was exhorbitantly high @ S$240! So committee REJECTED it! LOL. NO WAY!
Well, strangely enough, one other bus operator apparently offered a much lower price of only S$80 for 24 seater- 2 way! But guess what? Mr S.A.Tan must have been very naughty.  He SPAMMED it into the junk mail! Wow lah! Trying to be funny with us!

But the Lord whose eyes are roving to and fro searching out for those whose hearts are fully committed to Him PREVAILS! (2 Chron 16:9)  If He is for us, who can be against us?HUH! HUH> HUH!!!!

So just before the sat outing, on the day before, the person in charge of the bus called instead! Asking why no response from enquirer instead! LOL.  So the rest was history too.  The several groupings of car pool to park at the cheapest car park in town (which as One Raffles Place for S$2.35 for WHOLE day parking) with MRT transit was smoothly re-organised to a single meeting place! The whole gang was loaded into one bus to the pier! Hooray!! PTL!

Such was the behind the scenes of this awesome family outing.  A unique one that happened in a blue moon! Through this all, can see that His Hand was on us all! Thank You Lord Jesus ! You are forever faithful. You are good all the time!

Some Further Reflections

My eldest brother asked the meaning of "Lazarus " when we landed on the island that morning.

This set me reflecting on the story of how the Lord Jesus resurrected this dead man Lazarus - brother of Mary and Martha. The story was recorded by apostle John in chapter 11.

Lazarus the name has the resurrection meaning.  In 2 movies, Casper the little cute white cartoon ghost was supposed to be 're-incarnated' in the time machine called Lazarus .  In the other more recent movie "Interstellar" - the mission was called the Lazarus Mission to save the dying earth.

It was in this John 11, that came one of the most common banners which we tend to see hanging at any believers' funeral wakes .  vs25 JESUS DECLARED " I AM THE RESURRECTION, AND THE LIFE.   HE WHO BELIEVES IN ME WILL LIVE, EVEN THOUGH HE DIES, AND WHOEVER WHO LIVES AND BELIEVES IN ME WILL NEVER DIE"

Then the Lord asked Martha " Do you believe this?"
And Martha replied "Yes Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come to this world"
Martha then called her sister Mary.
Mary heard, got up quickly and went to Jesus. She fell at Jesus feet.
She blamed Jesus "Lord if you had been here, my brother would not have died"

Jesus saw her weeping. He was deeply moved in spirit and trouble.
Jesus wept.
Vs36 recorded " See how he loved him" But some said "Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?"

V38. Jesus was once more deeply moved.

He came to the tomb. "Take away the stone" he said.
But Martha, Lazarus sister was concerned " But Lord, by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there for 4 days"  (true right?)

But what did Jesus tell her??
V40 "Did I not tell you that IF YOU BELIEVE, you would see the glory of God" (Caps mine)

They took away the stone.

Jesus looked up and said "Father , I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but  I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me"

V43 Jesus called in a loud voice "Lazarus, come out!"
v44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with the strips of linen and a cloth around his face"

So, this- my dear brother - is the story and meaning behind Lazarus.
Do you believe in this Jesus who loved us so much?
Do you believe that He is able to resurrect a dead man like Lazarus?
Do you believe that He is the resurrection and the life?
Do you believe that if we believe in Him, we will live even though we may die in our flesh?
Do you believe that whoever lives and believes in Jesus will never die?
Do you believe?

I do.
I believed in Jesus some 20 over years back.
I just simply believe and know that He loves me just too much.
I believe it was the reason for Good Friday remembrance that He died for my sins.
I believe He was resurrected on Easter 3 days after the crucifixion.
I believe He is the risen Saviour, King and Ruler of the nations.
I believe in small miracles like the 5 incidents above for this outing.
I believe in He is my Father who loves to answer simple prayers of a dear daughter.
He just did for me on 4th June 2016.
How about you? Do you believe?
