20230224- Infinity & Pool @ IR - Eternity?

24 Feb 2023 - Staring into Eternity from an Infinity pool at IR?

Wonder what is an Infinity Pool?
Well, simply the water a;ppears to be vanishing or extending to Infinity!

It is also known as a Zero-edge pool or a vanishing edge pool or a negative edge pool

How do Infinity Pools Work?

The edge over which the water continuously flow is terminated at a lower level then the required level in the pool , usually 2-6mm.  Then there is the collection trough beside and below the infinity pool!

So here I was at this Iskandar Residences on this friday. 

IR - yah , kind of integrated resort!

Wanted so much to swim in this spectacular infinity pool that looked over our Tuas-JB causeway and the Sunway Iskandar region.

Perched up on the 4oth floor, I had a glimpse of Eternity in the pool of Infinity! What a privilege and joy to behold!

Reflections

• Space has no beginning or ending.
• The wedding ring has no beginning or ending. But it is finite.
• God has no beginning or ending. (Ps 90:2 _eternal God Gen 1 : In the beginning, John 8:58, Before Abraham was born , I AM.)

So what is one word to describe something that has no beginning or end?

Hmm....

The swim at this Infinity Pool gave me this perspective indeed.

Limitless. Boundless. Eternal.

The set of all positive for for non-negative numbers is INFINITE, but it has a beginning.  Conversely, a circle has no beginning or ending but it is FINITE.

This week, we can see not just the moon , but Jupiter and Venus with our naked eye as they come close to a conjunction.  Pretty sight to behold. We can sight planets from Earth with our naked eyes sometimes.

Such is the wonderful awesome power of our Eternal God

Rom 1:20 " For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made. even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse"

Yes, God is Infinite. He is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, transcendent and immanent

Here on Earth, no matter how beautiful the view is from such and Infinity pool , they are just temporal.  We are pilgrims merely passing through this left earthly journey.  However , may we seek God and fix our eyes on things that are of eternal value. 

Love God. Hate Sin. Win Multitudes

Reach Up. Reach In. Reach Out

20230220- Oceans and Seas Musings - Genesis 1 & Ps46

The winds were howling.

The seas were roaring.

Reflections

Since coming back from Sedeli beach, I have been thinking about the oceans & seas.

There are 5 main oceans in our world- Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Artic & the Southern Ocean off the Antartic.

Pacific is the largest! Covers more than 30% of the earth. Smallest being the Artic.  But all the 5 made up 71% of earth!

Many scientists today have theories of the origin of Earth's water. Ranging from melted comets, inside earth or even asteroids. That came about 4 billion years back! Some are salt whereas some are fresh water!

Biblically...........

Genesis 1 !

Day 2 :God separated water beneath heaven. Land appeared called earth and the pooled water Ocean!

Day 4 God spoke "Swarm Ocean with fish and all sea life"

Psalms 46

is where we read about the rush and the roar of the oceans.

There is a little difference between oceans and seas. 

Well, seas is a subset of oceans -  Flanked usually by land.

I used to wonder why the oceans are 'glued to the round earth" The waters never seemed to spill off.

The depths of the oceans can be more than 3000km . Yet I only dive a mere 10m deep in my previous scuba dive.

There are still so many mysteries in the deep deep dark ocean.

We man are not able to explore as yet. 

The sea creatures are beautiful and fascinating - displayed in techno colours.

Finally thots...

God is really our present help in trouble . Ps 46:1

He is the Creative God who made the oceans in the second day of Creation.

We have been told to lift up our eyes to the Heaven, from whence our help comes from.

But we can also shut our eyes at the beach and hear the oceans roar.

To remind ourselves that indeed our God is also our present help in times of trouble.

Jesus walked on water.

He calmed the stormy sea.

He is the God of the Impossible.

By faith we come to Him.

As the oceans roar, we bow in awe.

amen!

20230214 - A slice of Life & I have learned ….

 

I have learned ….

Take two minutes to read these sayings, and be sure to  read all the way to the bottom. Written by Andy Rooney, a man who had the gift of saying so much with so few words. Rooney, who used to be on CBS's 60 Minutes TV show, has passed away, but his words spoken then are more important now than ever! 

He reminded me of our very own red dot radio presenter , the late Eugene Loh who passed on at age 47 in Nov 2022

Some Reflections

This morning after sending out the wisdom words of Late Andy Rooney (CBS “A few minutes with AR “ from 1978 a 2011) who died in 2011 at age 92), I could not help but remember our very own local radio host- the late Eugene Loh. ( 93.8 A slic(e of life from 1998-2019 , then late night prog till 2022), who died in Nov 2011 at 47. 

It was only last Saturday that I was reminded that I had used “A slice of Life “ as part of my English teaching to foreign students back in 1999.  Was dining with My ex student W just last sat and she suddenly mentioned about how she enjoyed late EL part of the English listening segment in the class. 

EL’s Slice of Life was usually less than 2 min long. Yes. I used that as part of the listening section for the foreign students. They had to hear and we had conversations about it as verbal discussions. 

Why I chose EL? Now as I recall- all the “3” S!

1. Simple English

2. Stimulating content 

3 Soothing Voice

EL passed on at 47. AR passed on at 92.

Two men with almost 40 years apart.  Yet one whose life was shorter at 47.  Oh. I missed EL soothing voice. His death was a shocker to me. In Nov 2022.  

If my ex student could recall his slice

Of life that day, I could

Imagine now how many listeners he must have impacted since 1998.  RIP EL. 

A little tribute to our very own red dot motivational radio presenter EL. 

All of us need that little encouragement now and then. That little bit of “slice of life”. Well said by the late AR ,quote “ I have learned …that it’s those small daily life happenings that make life so spectacular”. That is what A

sLice of life meant”  Not the whole chunk.  Only just need a slice.  Our life. 

I trust all of u enjoyed AR “ I have learned…” his words of wisdom. 

At least u must Hv been impressed by one of his little nuggets? Some laughed over his toilet

Paper running faster at the end of life! Good for u! Laughter is the best medicine as quoted by the Famous king in the Bible! 

And if u had not found the meaning of life?

Get the little slice of life from perhaps one of the leaves of the BIBLE?

It holds the Basic Information Before Leaving Earth. Just 66 books and love letters from the One Creator who gave us the very slice of life. 

The fact that u are able to read this text, thank GOd! Your lungs and heart are

Alive to let u enjoy this very moment of slice

Of life!

20230203_ Sunset at Sunway Citrine!

Just happened to be at the right time 7:25 on 3/3/23 to witness this mersmerising sunset colours at Sunway Citrine!, Overlooking Emerald Bay! Awesome!

Just loved standing at this ledge , captured by the brilliant rays.

Though it was only 10 mins, but it was worth the watch. Breathe. Close your eyes. Open. Breathe.

What a spectacular sight! Thank You Lord for giving us awesome skylines

 Reminding us that the sun sets and will always rise again faithfully.

There may be days where we cannot see the sun. But that does not mean it was not there.  The "Son" is always there for me and you. Amen. Brilliant sun.
