2014-4 Finland :Helsinki - Sibelius Monument & Suomenlinna a Maritime fortress

This is Sibelius Monument in this Park . 1967 The pipes are meant to be be interactive with visitors in sound creation...but too cold to blow:)
Just a stone throw away from this park is a quaint little cafe called Cafe Ragatta.  Tucked inside are all the old ancient utensils and stuff found in the early 50s and 60s..kind of bring back old memories!

Suonenlina - A Maritime Fortress- off coast of Helsinki in 1748
Now a UNESCO World Heritage site as a notable example of European military architecture.  Population on this island - about 900 only

Took the ferry costing E6 to get across the sea....only about 10-15  min ferry ride.....
Entering the island...the first building is a church built as Russian Orthodox church way back in 1854.  Onion shape dome. After Finland gained independence , it was converted ot Evangelical Lutheran Church. The steeple above still acts a a lighthouse.

Very interesting submarine....a very  very very old one.....
