2 Cor 5: 20 " Now then we are ambassadors for Christ..."
The above is a hilarious cartoon showing the 2 famous Heads - One ,the President Trump of USA and the other the Pope of the Rome - leader of the world wide Catholic church. 2 BIG ambassadors in their own respective rights.
So it set me thinking about 2 Cor 5:20.
What does it mean that we are ambassadors for Christ?
After all, ambassador means 'representative'. So as in 2 Cor 5:17 once we in Christ, we are a new creature and old things are passed away and behold all things become new. We are now subjects of another kingdom. Where the King is Christ. And as written in v18, God has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ and has given us a ministry of reconciliation.
This ministry is not the missionary travels that we need to undertake. i.e. to be a so-called missionary to another country. To be that Christ-ambassador to that nation. In 1998 I embarked on my first so-called mission trip of 7 weeks to Myanmar. It was long to me - 7 weeks! And it was on this trip that one of the Myanmese pastors shared with us. He said "A missionary is not one that crosses the sea but one that sees the cross"
How true! Like the cartoon depicted above : "WE ALL HAVE A CROSS TO BEAR!"
We need not become a head of state to carry out this duty. We can just be ambassadors where we are right now, where the Lord has placed us in. Like the flower in the garden, we bloom where we are planted. May we spread the fragrance of the Lord Jesus to the very places where people are needed most.
Like 2 Cor 3:3 We ourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, know and read by everybody. We show that we are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Yeah. A missionary is one who crossed the sea, one that sees the cross, has a cross to carry and does make others cross. Otherwise, we cross the line
