20190624 -Ecc 4:12 About Cords and Macrame

Photo taken 24/6/2019 Learning to Macrame First Time!
Ecc 4:12 "A threefold cord is not easily broken"

A new learning activity from a bunch of leftover green cords and embroidiery hoops.

Been trying to go GAIA green.  Recycling is my new hobby!

Thanks to YouTUBE University, I just learnt how to macrame!
Oh Man, the first video was too fast for me to learn how to do the SQUARE Knot, so I had to search for another video in slower motion.  Guess age is catching up and the learning process has slowed down :)

Then I learnt about the GATHERING knot! So useful!

And I master the art of measuring using just my outstretched arms for full length cords of 6 strands and 2 of the 3/4 arm cords (from finger tips to only the end of the other shoulder - No need of any MEASURING Tapes! Oooo Lah!!

No need of any masking tapes except for a pair of scissors!

So out came the nice green macramed hanging pot in one half afternoon!
And I decided to make another one the next day!

A Cord-Worthy Reflection!

CORD 1 : A 3-fold cord is not easily broken

Ecc 4:12 came to my mind as my fingers moved gingerly twisting and looping the cords in amazement of the end product surfaced over time!

There were altogether 12 cords for this project.
Out of which a family of 4 cords were used for the squaring.
In the end I had 3 main cords for the hanging.

Indeed "A threefold cord is not easily broken"
How True! Having done this macrame.

I came to understand that from such basic ONE basic Square cording, one can made even more complicated patterns - straight and curves.  it is all up to ones creation.  More add-ins of buttons or knobs to enhance the end result.

And yes, most importantly, it was the strength of the unified 3-4 cords that amazed me most. The Simple Gathering Knot was also so strong to tie and gather the rest of the cords to a good tight loop! Not easily broken indeed.

CORD 2 : A NETTED CORD of snares in a wicked world

Fishermen used the knotted nets to catch their fish
Hunters used their knotted traps to catch their prey.

The hunter or the hunted.  A cord of nets can be a good or bad depending on perspectives of which position one is in . This is life.

Ps 119:61 serves as a good reminder to remember even in bad times "The cords of the wicked have encircled me.  But I have not forgotten Your law"

CORD 3 : A loose cord of second chances

When I was doing the square knots, I realised that I could easily loosen and undo it or adjust it by pulling it upwards or downwards to the length I wanted. So awesome! Guess, life should never be uptight.  We do make mistakes in life , who does not? Sometimes, we need to loosen up.  Give second chances or more.  Most importantly, remember our Creator who is the Perfect one.  He is able to undo those knots we got ourselves entangled in our lives. Amen!

Ecc 12:6 Or ever the silver cord is loosed, Remember now Your Creator
