20201214 - Seletar Aerospace _Oval_Helmstead Wetlands Bird Watching

14/12/20 : A awesome looking bee eater at Helmstead Wetlands, Seletar

A little morning outing which started from 8am ....
Headed towards Helmstead Wetlands to 'watch birds!"
Followed with a yummy breakfast at one of the cafes @ The Oval.
Did a drive through to Seletar Airport only to find it "CLOSE" for public flights except Private ones...  It was soooooooooo empty and quiet!
 COVID!!!
Manage to catch 2 private jets - one landed and one took Off!
And we also managed to catch only 2or 3 of the several types of feathered friends at the wetlands this morning!

The drive around this Seletar enclave - Picadilly, Bromptom Rd, Sussex etc all the Black and White single storey bundgalows was a great drive to behold!

We ended up at Yio Chu Kang Road for lunch! Oh Yeah! No roti prata this time but a chinese lunch at a fairly newly opened eatery called Tong Shun.

Home by 3pm.  Thank God the rain came only after this! So grateful!

Reflections of Flight!

  • Our Creator God created species of flying birds in DAY5 of His creation.
  • But it was only in 1903 that the Wright brothers invented the first plane.
  • How about helicopters? Well apparently many inventors and engineers from all over the world built the prototypes of helicopters after 1912. But it was 14/9/1939, the VS-300, the world's first practical helicopter, designed by Igor Sikorsky that took flight.

And I took my first Heli flight in USA , Seattle in 1996 while attending a Pacific Banking Program!

Simply love to fly!

It was my first time at the Helmstead Wetlands. It was an eye-opener to witness the awesome coloured feathered friends in flight.  Only our awesome Creator is able to create such wonderful colours of these birds for us to behold.

Our feathery friends can take off and land in moments.  They do not need a runway to lift off! They have perfect "engines"  Their food is organic too!
And here we need one to learn how to fly a plane or helicopter. Take some years or hundreds of hours before one can be licensed to fly.  The bird brain is better!

Final Thoughts

2020 is coming to an end in about 2 weeks time.  It was a not so good COVID year. Economic woes for many.

Guess it is good to be a bird watcher.  Why?

Matt 6:26-27 "Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not more valuable than them? And which of you being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?"

So Be a Bird Watcher!
Be feather light in your mind!
Leave your burdens at Jesus feet.
Lift off! Fly!
