20201225 : A Muichellin Christmas < 5 Fellowship & A Rainbow!

What a 2020 year! No more than 5 pax gathering!
So this year we abided!
4 adults and a little baby Joelle!

So with no potluck from the big group, I still cook up a Christmasy Storm! A Cold Storage Muichellin Menu! Muahaha!

Covid can be a dampener? No way. The Christmas fellowship still goes on!

And we remember the reason for this season!

I love Christmas.  Wish I can get snow here in little Red Dot.  A LITTLE HOT HERE.

********************************************************

And this Christmas day, my grand nephew completed his 100Km biking! WELL DONE!

Thank You Lord Jesus for your birth and being the Saviour of our souls.

We receive the forgiveness of our sins through your blood shed on the cross for our sins.

Not about what we have done.  Nothing we can do to merit and earn this forgiveness.

Only through You.

Thank You for this covenant of love shown in this double rainbow sighted on this precious 25/12/2020!  I missed this sighting cos I was busy in the kitchen cooking.  But many of my rainbow chasers sent the awesome rainbow to me to see.

What a day to commemorate the celebration of your birth 2020 years ago!

Praise you ! Glory in the Highest! Emannuel!

20201224 _ Nice to be remembered for service...Oh HONEY

Received this from our church! What a surprise!

Covid has practically changed the way we 'worship'.
No longer in big groups of fellowship.
At most 5 in a boat..
And it was only recently increased from 50 to more than 100 in places of worship.

This invisble C19 has changed and made us think deeper into our very own relationship with Christ and others.

It reminded us what is FREEDOM all about.

Unlike the migrant workers in the dorms, we citizens and other residents here are still able to move about with some freedom in little red dot.  Whereas the migrant workers are held up mainly in their confines of their dorms after work.  So, let us think about FREEDOM.

Christmas is just 3 days away.
Christ was born some 2020 years ago.  Why?
Have you ever wondered why?
And that only about 33 years later, Christ was hung on the cross.  He died.
But on the 3rd day, He rose again.
Yep.  He did not die!

Galatians 5:1 "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery"

Covid may have created some chaos in our routine.  But let us not be enslaved by it.

We remember Christ -The reason for this season.

To those who knows Jesus Christ as a personal Saviour, what is C19?
We may have suffered some physical movement control.
But in our spirit - we have FREEDOM!
Yeah Yeah!

So happy to receive these bottles of HONEY from the church.  Yah...we have been involved in the meal delivery service to some of the rental units for the past 6-7 years now.  Sometimes, giving and giving as volunteers can be tiring.  We need to watch eagles sometimes ! Is 40..not to grow weary! LOL.

So for this month to receive a love gift can be refreshing.

I love HONEY!

And God's Word is liken to HONEY from the honeycomb.  It is sweet!

Honey is  luxury and a delicacy, a product of the Promised Land that showed GOd's abundance for his people.

Indeed, a good reminder as the year 2020 closes in a weeks' time - to continue to savor the honey - God's Word in 2021!

20201222_Sungei Buloh : Where eagles fly! Is40:31

Isaiah 40:31 - "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk , and not faint"

The above verse came to my mind when we were at Sungel Buloh Wetlands on 22/12/20.  We came to this Eagle Point with a great vantage view of eagles hovering above us!

Right across we could see Danga Bay, Country Heights and of yes, the Woodlands Causeway!

22/12/20 Tue
9:30am:  Arrived at the wetlands...walked...

What a BIG Yam Leaf!

What an incredible squirrel munching on a seed!
In downwards vertical position! LOL

Ended our walk around 12 noon... Hungry..

Took a quick drive to Sungei Kadut Drive where the Gain City building was located. Big warehouse indeed! Had our lunch.  Food court was kind of automated for the food ordering .  But the paper printing receipt was malfunctioning...so in the end , we were still served by a HUMAN.  <Muahahah>

Reflections

Loved to see the eagles soar and glide so gracefully above us.
And Johor was so near to Little Red Dot.
It has been more than 8 months now since the Malaysia- Spore Border closed except for the essential services.

Perhaps, the eagles meant to remind us what is WAITING really mean?
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk , and not faint"

Just praying and hoping that indeed we will not grow weary of this little invisible Covid bug.  Mutation seems to have started in UK and Europe.  More infectious! And now we are seeing another LOCK DOWN in other countries. Oh dear.
The cold ain't helping to slow this bug in this season!

May the Lord keep us and make His face shine upon us!

20201214 - Seletar Aerospace _Oval_Helmstead Wetlands Bird Watching

14/12/20 : A awesome looking bee eater at Helmstead Wetlands, Seletar

A little morning outing which started from 8am ....
Headed towards Helmstead Wetlands to 'watch birds!"
Followed with a yummy breakfast at one of the cafes @ The Oval.
Did a drive through to Seletar Airport only to find it "CLOSE" for public flights except Private ones...  It was soooooooooo empty and quiet!
 COVID!!!
Manage to catch 2 private jets - one landed and one took Off!
And we also managed to catch only 2or 3 of the several types of feathered friends at the wetlands this morning!

The drive around this Seletar enclave - Picadilly, Bromptom Rd, Sussex etc all the Black and White single storey bundgalows was a great drive to behold!

We ended up at Yio Chu Kang Road for lunch! Oh Yeah! No roti prata this time but a chinese lunch at a fairly newly opened eatery called Tong Shun.

Home by 3pm.  Thank God the rain came only after this! So grateful!

Reflections of Flight!

  • Our Creator God created species of flying birds in DAY5 of His creation.
  • But it was only in 1903 that the Wright brothers invented the first plane.
  • How about helicopters? Well apparently many inventors and engineers from all over the world built the prototypes of helicopters after 1912. But it was 14/9/1939, the VS-300, the world's first practical helicopter, designed by Igor Sikorsky that took flight.

And I took my first Heli flight in USA , Seattle in 1996 while attending a Pacific Banking Program!

Simply love to fly!

It was my first time at the Helmstead Wetlands. It was an eye-opener to witness the awesome coloured feathered friends in flight.  Only our awesome Creator is able to create such wonderful colours of these birds for us to behold.

Our feathery friends can take off and land in moments.  They do not need a runway to lift off! They have perfect "engines"  Their food is organic too!
And here we need one to learn how to fly a plane or helicopter. Take some years or hundreds of hours before one can be licensed to fly.  The bird brain is better!

Final Thoughts

2020 is coming to an end in about 2 weeks time.  It was a not so good COVID year. Economic woes for many.

Guess it is good to be a bird watcher.  Why?

Matt 6:26-27 "Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not more valuable than them? And which of you being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?"

So Be a Bird Watcher!
Be feather light in your mind!
Leave your burdens at Jesus feet.
Lift off! Fly!

20201208- A time-lapse of Rising Sun in an hour! Joshua 10

Positioning for the time lapse capture of the rising sun! On the trellis not the tripod! (Modified stand!)

At about 6:35am......on 8/12/2020

Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you

An hour of time-lapse recording from 6:35 - 7:35am

Condensed to a 27sec short video!

What an awesome Creator God we serve!

Amazing Sun! That rises and sets and divides the day and night!

The earth revolves...

Isaiah 66:1

This is what the LORD says "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?"

Reflections

This beauty of observing the rising of this sun on an early Tue morning, reminded my of the record in Joshua10.

One of the rare occasions where the LORD heard the prayer of Joshua.

V12 Then Spoke Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel and he said to the sight of Israel, Sun, stand still upon Gibeon and you Moon, in the valley of Ajahon.

v13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies.  Is this not written in the book of Jasher?  So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down for a whole day.

But here it was ...my sun rose as seen in that one simple hour.  It was not still.

If the Lord can still the sun, he can and is able to do anything! AMEN!

20201124 _ Bike : A bridges night along Singapore River and the beautiful Marina Bay

Bridges photos captured on a Tuesday Nite 24/11/20
More than 10 bridges along the Singapore River!

Different Vantage point of MBS from the Bay

It was a last minute decision to bike on this cool Tuesday evening.
Because of the gloomy wet weather, our couple friend backed out.
But the rain did not come.

So at about 6:40pm, we decided to strike out for this nite bike.

Did we regret? Oh no. It was such a COOL evening. We hardly perspired !

And best of all - the river side views were awesome.

The side cafes had bustling business !

For the first time , we entered into Fullerton Building and rode past Customs House.
 The old Clifford Pier.
View from Customs House

Entering into the MBFC - Line of Christmas trees....

Into the marina bay to MBS, Helix

View from the F1 tracks

and ended up at Esplanade where we had our dinner at the Makansutra food street.

After dinner, we rode past Padang and the National Gallery

The PADANG
National Gallery of Singapore

War Memorial

St Andrew Cathedral

High Street Fire Station

Killiney Road, Orchard Road
to Orchard

Ion Singapore

and back home at 10pm!
(3 and a half hours trip!)

And it was a cool evening, yes!
Enjoyable trip!

Bridges Reflections

Interestingly, the word "bridges' do not seem to appear in the bible.
But CROSSINGS- yes.

And crossings are significant.  Well, like the Red Sea Crossing from the land of slavery to a new beginning.

So says Deuteronomy 6:1-3
" Now this is the commandment and these are the statutes and judgments which the LORD your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess that you may fear the LORD your God , to keep all His statutes and His commandments which i commanded you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.  Therefore, hear. O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you - 'a land flowing with milk and hone'"

Tonite, I saw more than 10 crossings in this little Singapore River in little red dot.

The year 2020 is almost coming to an end in about ONE more month time.  Yep, good reflection for the year filled with this little invisible, destructive and life changing BUG!  Made many crossed indeed.  But change it is here to stay! Cross over and move on!
