Just back from a 8D7N getaway to Chongqing.
This is the first time we took a risk by booking a local tour from FB! LOL! Their 4D3N cost only each RMB1100? ( too good to be true right?) deposit only RM100 and balance we paid on arrival.
So we extended another 4N on our own Free and Easy.
Their 1st Night hotel was perhaps 2 -3 star. @Wulong 2 star cos in outbacks. But at Longetivity city on the 3rd nite was better - 3 star? We were given free 4th night on return trip to Chongqing city - But it was pretty old 2 star hotel! So we decided to Scout the one we booked on our own called the MoVe. Dare not trust the accommodation so only 3 of us made a cab ride out to survey. Turned out it was much much better than what agent gave us for the price of $45 per nite! We decided to forgo the FOC and made a bee line for this MoVe! π we rather pay for this hotel! Weird name called The Move! But it was the right Move for us to Move ! Great location in the heart of the city centre!

The ridiculously cheap local tour? Turned out to be our lifetime experience! But it was definitely below cost. Because it was a shopping stop tour at the Jade “scam” centre and “health “ centre. But we did take on this tour with open eyes. Had a little funny time as to whether we Shd tip the guide since he earned commission at these places!
But it was quite an educational tour Afterall. The karst mountain @ Wulong. The fairy Mountain. The Wujiang cruise. The Miow Tribe ancient village. All in for just RMB1100! Full accommodation, coach and food!
But more than a day was spent at the 2 shopping places with the Liziba and Ciciko places just a touch and go instead in their program. ( luckily we did this on our free and easy days on own)
Will we take such a risk again in future?
The answer is clear! π
If anything is too cheap? Buyer better beware! π

Very Chongqing (CQ) reflection:-
1. CQ is a big place with 32mio pp! Red Dot is just 1/5. Some look alikes like the “MBs” Raffles CZ built in 2018 at the meet point of the 2 rivers Jialing and YZ. And their “Jewel” like place in their new modern suburb!
2. Their First MRT that went thru building was Liziba in 2004! We took the MRT from our hotel to that particular station to have a feel ! Walking down the 6 storeys - all tourist shops ! And Hogs of pp below gawking at the trains that passed thru every 3 min Quite a sight!
3. Then there was this weird Kuixing Building where we took the lift to 22nd and only to find out that it became the ground floor of the other side of the road! π There we met some sporeans who rated CQ over to Beijing and Chengdu!
4. Hongya Caves area was pretty similar in architecture. The buildings built against the mountains and quite a sight to walk down for the 9th floor building (on ground zero ) to the river level at ground zero again!)
5. Had a shock when our private hire driver took us through the Carpark tunnel , zooming here and there and ending up to another exit to another road! Don’t think we can drive in CQ! Just too complicated.
6. Their Bridges! For cars, for pedestrians and also the MRT train eg Simentian bridge. So when we took the train from Grand Theatre back to Raffles city ? We had a good view of the YZ river from the train. Supposed to walk on it but it was drizzling that day.
7. Really thank God for the good weather on our private full day tour for 5 pax. We paid rmb600 cos we decided not to split into 2 cabs for the 5 of us. It was the only sunny day! The other days were cloudy and drizzling! So the Sky view on top of the 67th floor at 520m was a pretty good 369 degrees view.
8. CQ is a pretty city at nite. a MUSt take cruise for RM100 for the nite scenery. π NIGHT thing. Not day.
9. Finally met my Idol XZ at Longmenghao ! IG place! It was a good morning walk from top to the bottom! Surprised to see the natural water falls (from the YZ) Many unique views from this side of the river! Looking at Chaotianmen bridge and Raffles City CQ!
10. Overall? Except for the food this time? CQ is a little quaint city of modern and old. Can visit. Not because of XZ. But it is pretty unique. Very CQ!
