Interesting story. Even a man who revered God can leave behind his wife with debts. Creditors coming to take their 2 children as slaves!
2010 started off with the baggage of much financial uncertainty and turmoil. Even countries like Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain are in big debt trouble. PIGS!
What is comforting in this passage is that with whatever that the widow has, that is the little oil - Elisha's advice to get her to fill up the jars with oil, sell them, pay the debts was amazing.
V7 "You and your sons can live on what is left". He is Jehovah Jireh - the LORD who provides. He is our shepherd and we shall not be in want!
