20201001-Mid Autumn Festival! A Pearl and a Moon ! What a blistering thought...

1/10/2020 : Scalded my right hand! OUCH!

And the moon is ROUND!

1/10/2020 night shall remain as a night of permanent remembrance of my life!

Right hand was badly scalded by hot water (actually it was a bowl of hot noodles).
Before I knew it, there was a searing pain.
My first aid course came in useful. Yah.
Put my burning hand under the running tap!
When I stopped the running water - oh yeah - the pain came back. So back to the tap.

Decided to take a cube of ICE and place it on my back of the hand (Ps do not do this...the extreme hot and cold is not good for burns...) But it was stinging...so I ICED it.
Got to the room and decided to pray "OH GOD, please do not give me a blister!!!"

Went to bed with some anxiety - afraid to seeing a big blister on hand the next day!

Lo and Behold, found a PEARL the next morning. (Looks like the full moon!)

Thankful that it was not a flying saucer that landed on my hand . LOL!

And so there was a red patch on my right hand - kind of a red tan....

Was it painful?
Thank GOd! the pain was only on the night of the scald! But my hand was perfectly fine the next day except for the "Pearl".

Reflection
1. Learn First Aid!!!! Don't put colgate for burns!
2. About Blisters ...God is creative.
The fluids that collects under the damaged skin cushions the tissue underneath.  This protects the tissue from further damage and allows it to heal.
So DON"T poke that blister!

This OCT2020 blister is my biggest one since I am born!
It did look like a pearl.

I could not help remembering the parable of the merchant man who found his one pearl of great value in Matt13.
What did he do?
He found the pearl.
He sold all that he had and bought it.
What an illustration of the great value of the Kingdom of Heaven!

The Blistering Pearl, God and Me.....

Life if not about stuff.  Accumulating wealth.  Holding on to our earthly possessions.
Am I ready to give up all that I have to buy this Pearl?

"God's Kingdom is infinitely more valuable than any physical things we might obtain.  Until we are willing to part with what we value above the Kingdom, we won't be able to capture the vision God holds out for each of us."

Some pearly gate thoughts!

Day 5 after scald! My pearl is GONE! Yeah!
But now itchy itchy!!!

20200922- Sun Halo Rainbow Sighting!

22/9/20 Sun Halo Capture by Mui - along Commonwealth Road (Queenstown) @ 11:35am

Awesome!

What an exciting noon! XR texted and I decided to look up to the sky!

Lo and Behold! What a awesome sight!

Rolled down the car windows to capture some of these shots!

Arrived at Redhill Hawker Centre! Continue to GAWK and AWE!

Rainbow around!

and this is me with the "Halo" above! Ha ha ha1

Here below from Gardens by the bay!
Great capture!

Here below a full one from Bukit Batok - a friend's capture!

By the time we finished our lunch at Redhill about 12:30pm, the halo was gone....

It was in the news this evening! This sun halo sighting!

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/sun-halo-singapore-sky-weather-13133070

How it is formed?
Circular halo (or also known as 22 degrees halo) - it forms as direct sunlight is refracted in millions of hexagonal ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. Usually through thin, high altitude cirrus or cirrostratus clouds.  As light passes through these hexagon-shaped ice crystals, it is bent at a 22 degree angle, creating a circular halo around the Sun.

Yes, it lasted about 40min.

Apparently, such halos do appear in our skies far more than rainbows!
But for me, this was my first sighting a sun Halo here in little red dot!

Hello Hello? What a Halo!
Thot I was a SAINT for some moments today!
Like Real!
ha ha Ha!
What a Joy!
thank You Lord for this awesome sighting!
Our hearts leapt for joy!

Today is 22nd Sep 2020 & we had a 22 degree Halo!

20200909-Chestnut Northern Trek

9/9/2020 Morning Walk @ Chestnut Nature Park - Northern Route

Heard about this nature park that is good for mountain biking.
But also heard that the terrain was hilly and can be rough.
Well, decided to take a walk on the wednesday morning instead.

True enough, it was pleasant, rustic, green covered. Cooling!
And biking?
Thank God we took a peep! Yes, not easy at all!

Started at 8:30am.  And we took only the Northern Loop this time and not the Southern Loop.

After this watch tower, we turning into the little path that leads to Mandai Zoo!

But we were not aware it was a one-way road as the signage was not clear . Had to email to Nparks after this walk :)

Thanks to a biker who told us we were walking to Mandai! So we decided to turn back.

Walk ended about 10:30am.

Southern Trail ? - next walk!

20200913-A kayak to Simpang River Mangroves (Sembawang)

13/9/2020 First attempt at Kayaking! $95 - 4 hours!

What a Sunday Morning of Arm and Torso muscle exercise!
Arriving at Sembawang Park at 7:30am, a debrief by our guide Desmond on the paddling and we set off to one of the last few mangroves in Spore!

This is the Simpang River Trail , off Sembawang and we could see Pasir Gudang, Malaysia as we paddled!  Saw a palm size atlas Moth on one of the leaves!

Had some snacks of curry puffs and fruits on a little strip of tiny land midway before we paddled back.
By noon, we were back on shore!

God was so good and faithful on this 13/9/2020. We had a cloudy non hot day at sea. It was only after our lunch at about 1:30 pm that the downpour came! So thankful! YEAH!

20200830 - A new Foldie bike! Lighter one Hito! Luke 10:4 Travel Light!

Here's comes my Hito (S$499) ! Next to my Ranger! (S$700+)

Finally got a younger sibling for Ranger!

Still love my Ranger which took me quite a long distance in travel now since 2011 ? But Cos we are getting older now, lifting big Ranger up can be a chore. It aint' light at 14-15kg!  Little Hito is 12 plus kg! That's the little Bro!

After much consideration - went for this 22 inch with Sports rim tyres! Looking Smart and good! Celebrating ND55 - Red and white spokes! ha ha!

Reflection
That maiden bike ride reminded me of this important principal!
Less burden, less weight allows one to ride up the slope much more at ease! Indeed as I compared with the Ranger.

So I reckon this is the same in life?

We ought to discard and de clutter our stuff in life.
Keep it simple and light. Just as the Lord Jesus commanded in Luke 10:4 "Travel Light. Comb and toothbrush and no extra luggage"!

And with less weight, we can move on more efficiently! Amen!
No looking back, no looking back!

HITO!
Here I Take Off!

20200826- Memories of Png Kueh! Mom Memories!

26/8/2020 THE DAY OF MY PNG kUEH mAKING!

It was so nice of my friend's mum to do this demonstration of this 'lost' teochew png kueh making!

Aunty Lim came and used her rice and tapioca flour manual recipe to show me the dough making.  Due to siome miscommunication, she did 1/2 of glutinous rice and so did I!  Well, in view of the huge amount of fillings, we decided to use another pack of soon kueh ready mix flour for the second batch.  All in in , we made about slightly over 80 pieces!

I bought 2 smaller sized plastic moulds, each costing $1-30.

At the end of the afternoon, the verdict was out - for dummies like me, guess the ready mix flour is good enough next time! The steaming was fast too! 5-6 min and I think my little steamer pot suffice, though I borrowed a big steamer from my brother just for this demo!

Reflection
It was a great afternoon of memories for me.

Bringing back fond memories of my time with late mom, making this teochew png kueh back in my younger days.

Gosh! Those good old days! Mom and us! Whee!
