Huge pumpkin at Buffalo - A farm on route crossing from Canada to USA on 23/10/2014.
Not the largest yet as the 2014 record was broken in Napa Valley with weight above 2 ton pounds!
Passed by the maize farmlands. Acres and acres of them!
And after such a long long drive from Toronto , Canada from 8am plus, we finally entered into Washington DC area, where we stayed at Homewood Suites by Hilton Columbia by evening....
Reflections
It was indeed a joy to visit those pumpkin farms in Oct. No one whom I talked to really understood what halloween is all about. And the whole place is filled with acres and acres of maize farms. Houses were far apart. The road was long. We almost got lost in the area . Though we do have the GPS, alas the small roads never seem to end. In my heart, I echoed the Donkey in Shrek "Are we there yet? ...Out of these maize lands?" LOL.
When we returned to Singapore, the weather condition suddenly changed in Buffalo within the next 4 weeks. The place we drove past had turned white!
"24/11/2014 :Snowfall in Buffalo broke records this week, with the city getting more snow in two days than it typically does in a year.
More than six feet of snow has barricaded people in their homes and stranded them in their cars. The weight of the snow has already caused 30 roofs to collapse, and 13 people have died from either exposure or heart attacks.
Buffalo residents aren’t usually fazed by snow. But the severity of this storm has caught many by surprise.
“This is western New York; we’re used to it,” Jack Fasanella, 62, a lifelong Buffalonian, told the New York Times. “But this is the worst I’ve ever seen. Even worse than the blizzard of ’77.”
What happened to my pumpkins??
Where have all my pumpkins gone to???
Amazing Change of Seasons in a month!
From Sunny bright to Cold white!
